China has released new guidelines to advance the “AI Plus” initiative, laying the groundwork for AI to deeply penetrate key industries and foster new quality productive forces.
- By 2027, AI is expected to be integrated into six critical areas: science and technology, industrial development, consumer upgrades, people’s livelihoods, social governance, and global cooperation.
- The penetration rate of new-generation intelligent systems and devices is projected to exceed 70%, the core industries of the smart economy are expected to grow rapidly, and the open collaborative AI system will be further improved.
- By 2030, AI will become a primary driver of high-quality development, with over 90% of smart applications integrated into daily life. The smart economy is expected to become a major engine for growth, ensuring the benefits of technology are shared.
- The vision for 2035 is for AI to strongly support the socialist modernization process, ushering in an era of intelligent economic and social development.
- The guidelines outline eight basic capabilities to be strengthened: foundation model performance, data supply innovation, computing power management, application development environment, open-source ecosystem, talent team building, legal framework, and security measures.
- Official Huo Fupeng emphasized that AI will drive the upgrading of traditional industries and pave the way for emerging and future industries. According to research, by 2030, AI is expected to contribute over 100 trillion yuan (about 14 trillion USD) to the global economy.
